December 2020 Scholarships


Attending college can be quite expensive for students and their families. Luckily, there are many college scholarships and contests available to help pay for a college education. Students should seek out and apply for scholarships in which they meet the eligibility requirements. Below are a handful of scholarships with December 2020 due dates. Check out the full list of December Scholarships – there are currently over 100 scholarships on the list! More scholarships will be added as they become available.

Americanism Essay Contest
Sponsor: Fleet Reserve Association (FRA)
Amount: Up to $5,000
Closing Date: December 1, 2020
Description: Contest is open to students in grades seven through 12 (or equivalent). Applicant must be sponsored by a branch of the Fleet Reserve Association or a unit of the Ladies Auxiliary. Applicant must submit an essay on the theme, “The Bill of Rights and me.”

Dell Scholars Program
Sponsor: Michael and Susan Dell Foundation
Amount: $20,000
Closing Date: December 1, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who have participated in an approved college readiness program (such as AVID, GEAR UP, Upward Bound – see full list on website) in grades 11 and 12. Applicant must have earned a minimum GPA of 2.4 and demonstrate financial need.

SMART Scholarship Program for Service
Sponsor: Department of Defense
Amount: Up to $38,000
Closing Date: December 1, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to current undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in a STEM discipline. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom. Applicant be able to complete at least one summer internship at a Department of Defense facility.

Generation Google Scholarship
Sponsor: Google
Amount: $10,000
Closing Date: December 4, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to aspiring students pursuing computer science degrees during the 2021-2022 academic year. Program is open to students who meet all the minimum qualification, but students who identify with groups that are historically excluded from the technology industry (Women, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, American Indian, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander) are encouraged to apply.

Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award
Sponsor: From the Top
Amount: Up to $10,000
Closing Date: December 4, 2020
Description: Award is open to classical instrumentalists, vocalists, and composers between the ages of 8 and 18 who have not yet entered college during the 2020-2021 academic year. This is the deadline for high school seniors only. Younger students may still apply. Deadline II is January 4, 2021, and Deadline III is March 3, 2021.

Burger King Scholars Program
Sponsor: Burger King McLamore Foundation
Amount: Up to $50,000
Closing Date: December 15, 2020
Description: Program is open to graduating high school seniors who live in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico. Applicant must have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 2.5 and plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for the entire 2020-21 academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.

$1,000 December Scholarship
Sponsor: Niche
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: December 20, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to high school, college, and graduate students, and those planning to enroll within 12 months. Applicant must be a legal resident of the United States or an international student with a valid student visa. Applicant must fill out a short form.

Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship
Sponsor: Gen and Kelly Tanabe
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: December 31, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to students in grades 9-12, college, and graduate school students who are legal U.S. residents. Applicant must submit an essay answering why they deserve the scholarship or their academic or career goals.

Top Ten List Scholarship
Sponsor: Unigo
Amount: $1,500
Closing Date: December 31, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to students 13 years of age or older who are legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia who are currently enrolled (or will enroll no later than the fall of 2026) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. Applicant will need to submit a short response to a given prompt.

Young Scholars Scholarship
Sponsor: CC Bank
Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: December 31, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to students attending universities, colleges and other academic institutions across the U.S. who are under the age of 30 and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicant must submit a completed application and an essay on volunteering and community service.
